Velvet Fallopian Tube Records is proud to announce our latest signing: Koot Hoomi. How did we find these folks? They sent us a demo. Just kidding. A few of the members are in Solyoni, a band we've taken quite a liking to, in case you haven't noticed. More importantly, they've created what is believed to be the first-ever tribute to the legendary songwriting duo of Daryl Hall and John Oates.

The Dark Side of Hall and Oates is a tribute album like no other. Rather than simply "covering" the songs of the storied duo (after all, how does one improve upon perfection?), the members of Koot Hoomi have chosen to re-imagine the music as it might exist in an alternate universe--replete with off-kilter harmonies, psychedelic swirl, minor-key digressions, and the occasional spot of Tuvan throat-singing; all recorded with cheap instruments on an old-school Tascam 488 analog tape recorder. In addition to tackling the songs you know and love ("Maneater," "Kiss on My List," "Out of Touch," etc.) the Hoomi have also reinterpreted a number of deep cuts going all the way back to Daryl and John's earliest Philly demos. The end result is an album infused with the same bracing, adventurous spirit that has informed so much of Hall and Oates' own greatest work. It seems like just yesterday we were hyping up the last Solyoni release, and now they're dropping yet another platter on our heads. The new one's called Kenesaw Mountain Landis, and we're almost certain you're going to love it. This is vintage Solyoni -- haunting story songs and pop ditties bristling with analog goodness. 07.25.06 - Solyoni gives birth to The Princess Market
Surprise! We're releasing a new Solyoni album today! Sorry for the short notice. We've been extremely busy and it appears our interns failed to properly maintain the website. That's what happens when you choose your interns based solely on their looks. Water under the bridge. The important thing is we have, in our hands, Solyoni's exciting new compact disc The Princess Market. This album blew our minds when we first heard it, which is good because we're in the band. Another item our interns forgot to mention is that Velvet Fallopian Tube also has a hand in the new album from Seattle band, The Plains. It's called The Boy in the Mansuit and it's quite spectacular. 07.01.05 - Welcome to the new online home of VFT Records!
Last August, Velvet Fallopian Tube Records turned from a fake record label into an all-too-real record label with the shrink-wrapped release of the Solyoni album Prairie Monsters. Having almost made our money back, we've decided we are now in a position to step things up a notch. I'm pleased to announce that we have signed former Seattle band Calmer Than You Are to a binding one-album contract. The band is currently seperated geographically, but the album, entitled 'Merica, which was recorded in Seattle last year, is now in post production. It needs to be heard, and we're honored to be involved in its release. We'll keep you updated with further details as the release date becomes clearer. In the meantime, keep checking back with us, as our crack staff of crudely self-trained techies attempt to beef up this website.
