Calmer Than You Are

Robert Lurie

Here at Velvet Fallopian Tube Records, we're always on the lookout for talented and gullible musicians. So far we've been fortunate enough to reel in the following fantastic acts!

SOLYONI : The brainchild of songwriters Dan Lurie and Dominic Aulisio, Solyoni is a collective of musicians who attempt to capture the sounds and stories of a world they find to be absurd, beautiful, heart breaking, inspiring, and hilarious. A blend of raw acoustics and overcooked electrics, this cacophony of folk pop will leave you fingerpainting things you would never hang on your mother's refrigerator.

CALMER THAN YOU ARE : Dark, intense, propulsive, quiet, loud, mysterious, Calmer Than You Are likes to make the kind of music that would work nicely as the soundtrack to a beautiful nightmare that takes place during the day, but on a planet with no sun. (I guess that'll do until they give us a real description of themselves).

ROBERT LURIE : Robert Lurie has been toiling away at his music since 1988. He has released two CDs on his own Black Rider label, and contributed guitar and production duties to Solyoni's freaky Americana masterpiece "Prairie Monsters." Lurie currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he is working on a biography of Australian songwriter Steve Kilbey. There are two new CDs in the works: a soundtrack to the Kilbey project, and a new CD of original songs titled "The Long Goodbye," wich will be released by The Tube.
